We have proudly served our communities for at least five generations.
Lacey Drug Company has been a fixture in the Acworth, Georgia community for nearly 125 years. It is the oldest continually-operating pharmacies in Cobb County and one of the oldest in the state of Georgia.
In 1895, Claude and Albert Durham opened the Durham Brothers Drug Company. The pharmacy was located just down Main Street from the current Acworth Location.
George Lacey bought out the Durham Brothers Drug Company. He changed the name of the pharmacy to Lacey Drug Company.
During that time, Lacey’s was one of the main gathering places for the community. Its popularity was partially due to the soda fountain.
Larry Braden, a young man in pharmacy school, came to work with George Lacey in the 1960’s. By the time Braden graduated from Mercer University School of Pharmacy, Lacey’s health was failing rapidly.
Braden bought out Lacey Drug Company in the 1960’s and it still continues to look after the health care needs of the community. (**WILL WORK ON DEVELOPING MORE)
The soda fountain may be a thing of the past, but if you look close enough, you can find some relics from that bygone era. (WILL BE WORKING ON TO DEV. MORE)
Now, you will still see the traditions that helps Lacey’s thrive. These traditions include pharmaceutical compounding, providing medical equipment to help in daily independent living, and individualized customer service.
